Nevada County Live - Grass Valley, California

Grass Valley, CaliforniaGrass Valley had several names such as:  Centerville, Hangtown, Gold Flat, and its original name, Boston Ravine.   Until recently Nevada City was always considered to be more prestigious, than Grass Valley.  Grass Valley is about the 2,100 foot elevation. Tall pines, Douglas Fir, Black Oak, and Cedars provides natural shade during the summer months and also provides the ambience of snow during the winter; occasional snowfall reaches up to 3 feet, though a foot is more common.

Grass Valley’s lower elevation (about 2,100 ft), makes a difference in the weather.  During the summer, Grass Valley is generally a bit warmer than Nevada City, but has way less snow, usually during the winter.

History is rich throughout the area.  Grass Valley has many interesting stories that will soon be added to our local history link.  Grass Valley a fun place to visit, a great place to do business, and a wonderful place to live.
